Is Siquijor Island safe for tourists, especially for women traveling alone?
Definitely. Siquijor is a very safe, somewhat still laid back island where tourists and locals live in a relaxed mode. The friendliness of the locals is one of the reasons why tourists keep coming back to this enchanting island.
Is there anything I should carry with me for a better island stay?
Aside from the essentials like a passport and driver's license if you wish to ride a scooter, you may also take with you some good sunscreen for an uninterrupted beach experience, and mosquito repellents.
How do I get to the Siquijor from Manila?
There are flights from Manila to Dumaguete and from there, you can take a ferry trip to get to Siquijor. If you're coming from Cebu, both a ferry trip and flying are options. Siquijor airport has also been opened recently, so more domestic flights are expected soon. For more recent updates, please contact the admin office.
What can I do at night and on weekends?
Siquijor is surrounded by white-sand beaches and cliffs to swim and hang around at. You can also opt for some mountain and cave adventures. If you choose to just hang around and relax, there are some cafes, bars, and restaurants that offer live music on some days.
Can I practice English after school?
Certainly. English is widely used in the Philippines, so both the locals and the tourists use English.
Can I meet English-speaking tourists?
Definitely.
Are there any places to withdraw and exchange money?
There are ATMs in some places and some businesses and pawnshops that also do money exchanges.
How are the prices of basic needs on the island?
Siquijor may not be the cheapest in the whole of Philippines, but it isn't the most expensive as well. Prices are monitored by the Department of Trade and Industry so rest assured that basic commodities are not overly-priced.
Is there anything I should be mindful of about Filipino culture? Like gestures and words to avoid?
There is none in particular. On the other hand, the Filipinos have some friendly gestures that the tourists may misunderstand.
How are Siquijor and the overall Philippine situation with the COVID-19 crisis?
The Philippines has overcome the worst. There were times when the country had high cases but the number has significantly gone down. The majority of the Filipinos have been vaccinated and things have gone back to normal for both individuals and businesses.

Does the academy serve meals on weekends? Or can I easily find places to eat?
We serve breakfast and lunch on Saturdays only, but we can assure you that there are several places to eat at and even within walking distance from the academy. Some restaurants and eateries also deliver food upon order that you can pay in cash.
What kind of courses does the school offer?
We offer regular courses, intensive courses, exam preparations, and junior camps. For more detailed information, please contact the admin office.
How many one-on-one classes do I get?
The package includes 2 one-on-one classes and 4 small group classes. If you wish to have more one-on-one classes, you could always contact the admin office to make some necessary adjustments.
How many students are there in a group class?
Group classes have a maximum of 8 students.
What kinds of dishes do you serve?
We do our best in serving a variety of dishes, from Filipino and other Asian dishes t Mediterranean dishes.
Are study materials provided?
We provide most of the printouts, but depending on the course, we may need to ask you to pay for a book for a better learning experience.
What is included in the monthly price?
The package price includes the classes, accommodation, weekday meals, Saturday breakfast and lunch, wifi access, and laundry service once a week.
Do you organize excursions or weekend getaways?
Yes, we may organize different excursions within the island, scuba diving, and some island hoppings.
Can I get a special weekend class if I want to?
Yes, you can. You can speak with the office personnel for additional class requests and adjustments.
Are there free laundry and room cleaning services?
Yes. The cleaning service is twice a week, and the laundry service is once a week.
Can I access the internet from my dormitory? Is it for free?
Yes. If you wish to have your Philippine number for your personal data usage, the office would be glad to help you.
How many students stay in a room?
Our main bungalows have a maximum of 4 occupants. If you wish to stay alone in a room, please speak with the office staff.
Can I request a room change if I want?
You may, depending on room availability. Please check from the office. The office staff would be glad to assist you to have a better stay.
Do you offer a free pick-up from the port?
Yes.
Do students have a dress code?
Casual clothing is preferred. Please avoid very racy outfits.

Do I need an SSP?
It is stipulated in the law for foreign students. Please contact the office.
What preparations do I need to get there?
Make sure your passports are not expiring soon. Don't forget to carry your vaccination cards as well. Last but not least, have a positive outlook and prepare your mind for what you want to achieve in your English studies.
Can I change the program I enrolled in?
Yes. Change of schedule effectivity starts on Mondays.
Will I get back the difference in fees?
Yes. Please check the admin for the details.
Is travel insurance necessary?
Recommendable, and as of the moment, COVID insurance is a requirement. Please contact the admin for updates on the policy.
